Merewig
Sold
 |
Merewig (Merry-wig) is a gentle soul. He
was unfortunate to be born with a great
hump upon his back and has been ostracized
by most of his community because of superstition
and ignorance. Because of this maltreatment
by the locals, he has taken to the woods
and made a home away from the taunting and
teasing. He has become a recluse, and prefers
growing things and wilderness instead of
being near cruel hearted people.
He has taken it upon himself to be the
caretaker of the living things around him.
He looks for companionship through animals
rather than from people, and is known for
raising odd sorts of creatures. He has happened
upon an egg beginning to hatch, and has
decided to take it home with him, but what
is it? Perhaps the two green clawed toes
that are pushing out may be a clue.

Merewig stands just under 7 inches tall in his
crouched position, but would be about 9 inches
tall standing straight. His hands, feet and head
are hand sculpted from polymer clay with a soft
body over a wire armature which allows him to
be gently posed. His skin is the natural color
of clay but has been given multiple washes of
color built up in a series that give him a very
natural look, including veins that look as if
they are visible just under the skin. It is finished
to give him a very translucent, natural skin tone.
His fingernails are individually sculpted to look
as natural as possible. Eyes are hand made and
painted and even have red veining to give them
a subtle bloodshot look. The photos simply can't
impart the detail that has been put into him.
The paint is very effectively sealed and will
NOT wash off or chip.
His clothes are hand sewn from cotton and linen
material. His shoes are made from polymer clay
and carefully detailed to look like worn leather.
His staff is made from polymer clay over a high
tensile wire which would be nearly impossible
to break, and is decorated with both hand made
and store bought beads. A few of the beads are
the only itmes not made by me personally.
The egg is hand sculpted from polymer clay and
given a sheen from acrylic sealant. There is no
paint used except for a very small amount to black
to make the crack more visible.
