Grimilas and Curgus
Sold
 |
Grimilas and Curgus have been playing checkers
every afternoon for close to 500 years.
Without fail, Grimilas has won every time,
and with every loss, Curgus, the eternal
optimist says, "I'll beat you next
time!" His faith in his eventual victory
never waivers even though it has been nearly
5 centuries since he first learned how to
play.
|
Finally, victory is at hand, and Curgus may actually
beat Grimilas for the first time. However, Grimilas
is NOT a good sport, and is taking this possible
loss very poorly, and is poised to knock the table
over with his foot if in fact he does lose, so
that he can hopefully cover his defeat.
Will Curgus finally win? That's entirely up to
you.
Both dolls, furniture and clothing, as well as
extras are all hand made by myself without the
use of molds, patterns or any other plans. Everything
is original and one of a kind and will never be
reproduced.
Furniture, checker board and checkers are all
made of wood without the use of plans or patterns,
except those made by myself. Furniture is hand
cut and joined by mortise and tenon joints. Chair
seats are hand woven out of jute cording. Checker
board and table are both made from redwood, and
the chairs and checkers are made from pine dowels.
The checkers are not fixed in place and may be
set up by the winning bidder as they see fit.
Both dolls are completely poseable and hands
feet and heads are guaranteed 100% to be pure
sculpts and not made with molds of any kind. Neither
will ever be reproduced.
Hair is made from tussah or vegetarian silk for
both Grimilas and Curgus. Skin is the natural
color of the clay with paint washes for color
depth and realistic look.
Curgus stands 10 inches tall and Grimilas stands
10 1/2 inches. Both dolls can stand on their own.Grimilas
holds a pipe made from polymer clay.
All clothing has been hand sewn and consists
of muslins, linens, cotton, flannels, and velours.
Even the buttons are hand made from polymer clay.
