Langolfin Buttercup and John Goate
Available-Contact
me for details
 |
Langolfin Buttercup is the resident lawn
care expert for the Treeans. Not much grass
grows under the trees, which is a good thing,
but there is plenty of brush that needs
to be kept in check. What better to handle
the job than a state-of-the-art riding lawn
mower? That's where John comes in.
John Goate is Langolfin's trusty mower
and general all around companion, mostly
because it is a never ending job cutting
grass and brush in the Treean community.
He is thorough, but very slow, so he basically
mows nonstop all during the growing season.
Not a sunny day goes by when Langolfin
and John aren't seen slowly mowing their
way through the underbrush and grassy areas
of the town. If you can't see them, you
can hear John's bell ringing joyfully as
he browses.
|
With a comfy seat and hands firmly holding the
reins, Langolfin sets out on his daily rounds
with the regularity of the sun rising, so the
next time you are in the woods, listen for the
bell, you might get a glimpse of them.
Langolfin and John are both hand sculpted without
the use of molds. Their hands, feet, heads and
in John's case, his rear end, are all sculpted
from polymer clay, and have soft sculpture bodies
over a wire armature.
Entire sculpture, with base, measures 16 inches.
John measures 9 1/2 inches to the top of his horns,
and Langolfin measures 11 1/2 inches tall in a
standing position.
Langolfin is dressed in all hand sewn clothes
(Treeans don't have sewing machines and neither
do I), and has "rubber" boots handmade
from neoprene gloves that are hand sewn. His hair
is hand rooted tussah (or wild) silk, and is a
bit unkempt due to his work environment. All buttons
are hand made out of polymer clay, and his skin
tone is that of the clay with gentle washes of
color well protected, so it will not wash off,
chip or peel.
John's hair is made from mohair (what else for
a goat?) and hand applied lock by lock which took
an incredible amount of time! His horns, nose
and mouth, knees and hooves are all hand painted
and sealed. His mower body was sculpted from Magic
Sculp and is VERY durable. It was painted and
has vinyl "John Goate" decals on the
side. The seat is hand sewn leather as are the
straps that hold the mower on his back. The straps
are held together with working hand made buckles
so that it can be removed if necessary. The seat
sits on springs, for that comfy ride, and they
are made from wire that was coiled by hand.
The only items that were not made specifically
by myself are the decals (courtesy of my sister
SDBuck decals)
and the bell and base, both of which were hand
finished. The bell was aged and given a patina
to keep it from looking too new
