Lotha Greenberry and Fafner the Dragon
SOLD
 |
Lotha Greenberry loves reading books on
dragons. In fact it is his most favorite
past time. Sometimes though, he tends to
have his nose in a book just a little *too
often, and in the meantime, life is slipping
by. Tonight he has fallen asleep reading
the "Big Book of Dragons" in his
favorite comfy chair. However, he is not
alone.
Fafner the Dragon has popped in for a visit,
and has become highly interested in the
dragon book. He's not terribly fearsome,
in fact he is merely a yearling dragon,
full of curiosity and playfulness. He has
yet to reach the age when he will ultimately
flame first and ask questions later.
|
Perhaps Fafner will poke Lotha awake and introduce
himself, but chances are, Lotha will have missed
an opportunity of a lifetime.
Lotha's head, hands and feet are sculpted out
of polymer clay without the use of molds of any
kind (Pure Sculpt), and his body is soft sculpted
cloth over a wire armature. Fafner is completely
hand sculpted out of polymer clay and Aves Apoxy
Sculpt, and painted with metallic acrylics, and
sealed to protect the finish. Lotha's skin tone
is from the natural color of the clay, and tinted
with pastels and acrylic washes in a manner which
will not wash, flake or peel off. His hair is
hand rooted tussah silk, and he has mohair eyelashes
that have been hand applied.
The comfy chair is hand made from many materials
including wood, polyester batting, and cotton
materials. His doily hand rests are hand crocheted,
and the rag rug was braided cloth. His marble
topped table is made from various woods, and polymer
clay faux marbling techniques. The candle is hand
dipped and sits in a polymer clay candle holder.
Lotha's clothing is all stitched by hand, and
his slippers are made from felt. The base is store
bought, but hand finished in walnut. All buttons
on Lotha's clothing are made from polymer clay.
The Big Book of Dragons is made from various
papers, and has a faux leather looking binding.
It contains over 70 pages of text (unreadable)
and vintage images of dragon illustrations and
photos of dragon sculptures throughout history.
Fafner Stands 12 1/4 inches tall, and Lotha would
be 11 inches were he standing. The base is 11
by 14 inches. Base adds 3/4 inches to the overall
height of the piece.
*Note: In no way do I suggest that reading is
NOT an excellent and worthwhile pursuit!
