Grifford Puttertinker the Unhandyman
SOLD
 |
Grifford Puttertinker is an unhandyman.
Everyone knows one. Some are friends, others
family members, and the most unfortunate
are actually married to one. They are the
antithesis of the fix it man. He has a warped
sense of finances, and assumes that he can
save money by making or fixing things himself.
In the meantime, he goes out and buys a
whole workshop full of tools so he can save
money by doing things himself rather than
buying them or paying someone to fix broken
items.
He is also cursed with the fact that he
just isn't good at what he claims to be.
New projects are usually shabbily made,
unfuctional, or just downright ugly, but
he is blind to this fact. He attempts to
fix items around the house, and ends up
making them completely worthless. A broken
chair that could be fixed by someone who
knows what he or she is doing, can be made
entirely unfixable after Mr. Unhandyman
gets through with it.

This can be a woman's worse nightmare, to find
out that her husband is one of these types. Instead
of just hiring someone who knows what they are
doing, she is forced to watch as the money slowly
disappears into her husband's "workshop"
along with any item that she could have had fixed
before he could get ahold of it. With experience,
a wife learns to have household repairs quickly
fixed before the husband gets home in an attempt
to keep him from finding out anything was wrong
to begin with.
He will spend twice as much for tools, plans,
and materials to build a birdhouse that falls
apart before a bird can even nest in it than he
would have spent by just buying a new birdhouse
in the first place, and this is exactly what Grifford
Puttertinker does. He is an unhandyman extraordinaire
and today he is making just that kind of birdhouse.
Most nails have missed their mark and personally,
I pity the bird who tries to make it's home there.
Grifford is handsculpted out of polymer clay
without the use of molds of any kind. His head
hands and feet have all been strengthened with
Aves Apoxie Sculpt, and has a soft body over a
wire armature. His tools are all handsculpted
from Aves Apoxie Sculpt and painted with acrylic
paints. He stands 11 inches tall in his semi-bent
posture.
His hair is made from undyed mohair, and his
clothes are all sewn by myself. His shoes are
leather with Aves Apoxie Sculpt soles. The worktable
was constructed from various wood and has some
scrap pieces underneath from which he can attempt
to make more substandard bird housing. He comes
with all you see pictured, and none of the items
are permanently affixed to the surface, so you
may arrange them as you please. However, Grifford
is able to stand via two small rods that hold
him securely in an upright position. The only
items not hand made by me are the nails and the
base, however, the base was hand finished by myself
in a red mahogany stain.
